The Geopark Essentials
Acequia del Toril and dolmens of Alicún Route
This is a very simple route, suitable for everyone, as it is very short and of low difficulty. The route allows us to enjoy the dolmens next to the Alicún Spa and the irrigation channel that has been formed with thermal waters. The start takes place in front of the Reina Isabel hotel and going up the road we will reach a dirt track from where we can see dolmens in a very good state of conservation. Afterwards, we will follow a path that descends through an Upper Palaeolithic site. At the end of the descent, we can walk next to a limestone wall that has been formed due to rainfall and sedimentation. We will find a ditch that was probably already used during the Palaeolithic period and that today is one kilometre long. It is a unique formation in the world and is one of the points of geological interest in the Granada Geopark. Before finishing, we will cross more dolmens and then return to the spa. If you wish, you can finish with a visit to the Alicún de las Torres Spa and enjoy the waters and their curative properties thanks to their sulphate-bicarbonate and calcicomagnesic properties.
