Gorafe angular discordance

Gorafe angular discordance

Layers of horizontal Pliocene limestone over a folded and eroded substratum, creating a unique and fascinating geological landscape for tourists.

A very illustrative example of discordance. The horizontal limestones of the Gorafe-Huélago Formation, from the Lower Pliocene (Alfambriense), are discordantly disposed on a highly folded and eroded Mesozoic-Palaeogene substratum, with almost vertical layers at this point.
